the polar express

Hello, hello!  How was your weekend? My weekend was filled with Polar Express craziness + a few much needed days to decompress from said craziness. I can't believe it is over. We spent almost 6 weeks sewing table runners, cutting kraft paper, making signs, designing posters + golden tickets, searching out pretty little bells, gluing a million ish doilies into snowflake garlands, and basically going completely insane.

I know you can't tell from the photos, but it turned out really pretty and the kids had a lot of fun. They loved riding on  the "train" - although when the conductor (Brian) told the kids to close their eyes and use Christmas magic to help the train leave the station, Sela peered over at me and said in the loudest possible whisper ever, "Ummm...I don't think this is a real train, and it's NOT EVEN MOOOOVING!". She did, however, love the North Pole, twinkly lights, and brownies topped with melted marshmallows -  so I think we're even :)

I'm sorry for the lack of photos, I was on my feet running the entire day + I ALWAYS forget my camera. Lucky for me, my sister-in-law took these (and scrubbed my floor on her hands and knees, watched a sad sad baby Graham, helped me make awesome signs for the North Pole, taped 200 feet of twinkly lights to make a pathway, let me sleep in her bed, and made me rethink communal/polygamist living. Seriously, don't you think having a sister wife would be sweet?), but unfortunately, not many worked out with the lack of natural light and the awkwardness of the venue. My first New Year's resolution is to learn some mad photography skills, or at least how to focus my camera - yeah, I'm that pathetic.

I do. I will totally be your sister wife, however, it would have to be with a different husband because it would be kind of awkward to be my brother's polywife.

As an attendee I can officially state that the party was a success. I was telling one of my visiting teachees about it this morning and she said it sounds adorable and would volunteer me to be in charge of our next Christmas party so next year it may be you watching my kids and scrubbing my floors and taping down twinkly lights. Remember, I believe in karma...

B: She is crazy. You would have loved her even more tonight in her "wiseWOman" costume. She looked like a gypsy. It was so incredibly cute/hilarious.

L: Is it weird that I laughed out loud when I read 'teachees?' sorry i missed you on chat today, i left my email open while we were out getting milk + watching Sela's play. You have to see the pictures - it was so adorable I cried.
